The University of Toledo successfully appealed the withdrawal of accreditation from the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) for the Physician Assistant Studies Program.
In a letter to UT President Sharon L. Gaber sent Jan. 22, ARC-PA notified the University it reconsidered its Oct. 6 decision to withdraw accreditation and “instead has decided to keep the program on accreditation-probation” status.
“The ARC-PA decided to keep the program on probation in order to protect the interests of current students and because the ARC-PA determined the program appears to have sufficient resources in place to resolve the citations in a timely manner,” the letter states.
During the probation period, the University will continue efforts to enhance the quality of the PA program.
In a letter to campus, Gaber wrote, “This is good news, particularly for our students, whose success is our top priority.”
She added, “The accreditation process has always served as an opportunity for us to improve on our processes and programs. We will continue to strive to provide the highest quality educational experience for our PA students with unwavering commitment.”
