Duo piano recital slated for Feb. 3
By Staff : February 2nd, 2012Ning-Wu Du and Helen Sim will give a duo piano recital Friday, Feb. 3, at 7:30 p.m. in the Center for Performing Arts Recital Hall.
They will perform music by Grieg and Schumann, as well as two selections of Chinese classical works, including “Yellow River Concerto” composed by Xian Xinghai.“This concert marks the first 2012 Confucius Institute cultural event for the UT and Toledo communities,” said Dr. Aige Guo, director of the Confucius Institute at the University. “This is a tremendous opportunity to see these two award-winning pianists perform.”
Du and Sim graduated from Juilliard School and are both faculty members of Xinghai Conservatory of Music in Guangzhou, China.
Du is a first-prize winner of the Sydney International Piano Competition, and Sim earned first place in Senigallia Competition in Italy.
“The Confucius Institute positions itself as an important part in UT’s international education and will continue to contribute to the cultural diversity in this region,” Guo said.
The free, public concert is co-presented by UT’s Confucius Institute and the Department of Music.
