Amy James, a senior majoring in pharmacy, will serve as president of the National Leadership Council for the honor society for the 2011-12 academic year. James also held that position for 2010-11.

“I’m very lucky I get to work with students across the country. It has really opened my eyes,” said James, 22, a native of Cincinnati. “I’m really honored that I was selected to be president again to continue our efforts to engage members and let even more students know of the great leadership opportunities available through NSCS.”

The 10 members of the council serve as the sounding board for the NSCS staff, conduct research on their campuses about member needs, and are the faces of the honor society at national functions. The president of the council is a voting member of the NSCS Board of Directors.

“The members of the National Leadership Council were selected based on their dedication, service and commitment to NSCS,” said Steve Loflin, CEO and founder. “Amy has demonstrated leadership, dedication to academic excellence and service, and community involvement at The University of Toledo, and I’m very much looking forward to watching how she will shape the National Leadership Council this year.”

James joined the honor society her sophomore year in 2008 and was an officer in the UT chapter in 2009. At UT, she also is a member of the Greek national honor society Gamma Sigma Alpha, Alpha Omicron Pi, and the UT Peppers Chapter of Mortar Board National Honor Society.
