Looking for a reliable, award-winning day care for your child this summer? The University of Toledo Early Learning Center is enrolling for its summer camp, which runs weekly sessions starting June 7 through Aug. 27 for children ages 5 to 10.

Swimming, games, field trips, cooking, sports, and arts and crafts are just some of the activities that children participate in at the camp and throughout the year at the center.

Located in a quiet Toledo residential neighborhood at 1923 Birchwood Ave., the UT Early Learning Center provides quality child care throughout the year for children 18 months and up to kindergarten age.

“We have superb teachers here at the Early Learning Center. All of them have degrees and have been doing this for at least 12 years or more,” said Caryn Salts, director of the Early Learning Center. “Our teachers truly care and know what they are doing.”

In addition, the learning center features large classrooms, a full-size gym, large fenced-in playgrounds for yard play and sports, and an open-air kitchen where hot meals are prepared and served daily.

“It’s really a lot of fun,” Salts said. “We really try to offer a variety of activities throughout the year for the kids, including a trip to the Spangler Candy Co., a Toledo Mud Hens game and an African safari.”

Enrollment in the summer camp program gives first priority to UT employees, students and faculty; enrollment to the public is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Parents can sign their children up for all or part of the 12 weekly sessions. Parents also can use a combination of part-time or full-time enrollment as long as they provide a schedule for the part-time program.

Registration and activity fees for one full-time child are $150. An additional second and third full-time child costs $135. A single part-time child is $40 per day, and a second and third child are $35 per day.

The UT Early Learning Center is open from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
