Former University of Toledo baseball player Jared Hoying has enjoyed a tremendous first half playing for the Hanwha Eagles of the Korean Baseball Organization.

Last week, Hoying was rewarded with entries into the league’s home run derby and all-star game, performing well in both.

He placed second in the home run derby and was named the best hitter of the game, going 3-for-5 at the plate with a home run, two RBIs, and two runs scored. His homer was the first score of the game and gave the Nanum Team an early lead in what turned out to be a 10-6 win over the Dream Team.

Hoying has been terrific at the plate for the Eagles this season. He is hitting .321 in 87 games with 21 home runs, 75 RBIs, and 29 doubles. The former Rocket is second in the league in doubles, tied for third in RBIs, and seventh in home runs. Led by his play this year, Hanwha holds a record of 52-37, second best in the Korean Baseball Organization.
