UT graduates Matt Rubin and Bre Democko, shown here at the 2011 Military Bowl, will showcase their search for a home on HGTV’s “House Hunters,” which will air Tuesday, July 22, at 10 p.m.

Their recent search for a home is featured on an upcoming episode of HGTV’s “House Hunters,” a show where a realtor leads potential buyers through three properties. Local realtor Al Hotchkiss of Sulfur Springs Realty helped Rubin and Democko with their decision.

The episode will air Tuesday, July 22, at 10 p.m.

“While at UT, Bre and I were involved in student organizations that strongly valued the history and traditions of the University and city,” Rubin said. “We gained a sincere appreciation for the area and with so many great neighborhoods and amenities like the University, art museum, parks, zoo, Mud Hens and Walleye, it was an easy choice to plant our roots here.”

According to the “House Hunters” website, “Matt and fiancée Bre are young professionals living in downtown Toledo’s Warehouse District. Tired of renting, they’ve decided to buy. Problem is, Matt wants to stay downtown and buy an industrial-style loft, while Bre wants a home outside the city with a great neighborhood and room for a future family. Who will win out?”

“We were fortunate to have the opportunity to earn both undergrad and graduate degrees from UT that led us to great jobs, great friends, and now a great home in this tight-knit, opportunity-rich town,” Democko said.

Rubin and Democko plan to wed in August.
