Rockets ranked No. 24 in AP Poll

The University of Toledo is ranked No. 24 in the latest Associated Press writers’ poll, its first appearance in the Top 25 since 2012.

Toledo (4-0) picked up 87 points, one spot behind No. 23 California (5-0) and one slot ahead of Boise State (4-1).

Rocket football logoThe Rockets, who beat Ball State, 24-10, Saturday, were unofficially ranked No. 26 in the AP poll last week with 68 points.

The Rockets also moved up in the USA Today coaches’ poll, picking up 24 points for an unofficial ranking of No. 29.

The last time Toledo was ranked was Oct. 29, 2012. UT was 8-1 at the time with an eight-game winning streak, its only loss in overtime at Arizona in the season opener.

Toledo will host Kent State (2-3) Saturday, Oct. 10, at 3 p.m. in its Homecoming game in the Glass Bowl. Kent State, which features the No. 1 defense in the MAC, defeated Miami last week, 20-14.
