Online auction aids Community Charitable Campaign
By Kim Goodin : October 16th, 2009In addition to traditional pledging methods, this year’s Community Charitable Campaign (UTC3) features a fun option for donating through an online auction called UTBay.
The auction, located at www.utbay.org, features three new items each week for open bidding. Minimum values are set, but bidders are encouraged to up the ante. Remember, it’s for a good set of causes — the United Way of Greater Toledo, Northwest Ohio Community Shares, Community Health Charities of Ohio and Earth Share of Ohio. Proceeds from UTBay, as with all of the fundraisers for the UTC3 campaign, go toward these organizations to support their various philanthropic services.
Items to be auctioned will be on display in Dowling Hall Room 2240 on Health Science Campus for those who’d like a firsthand look. The weekly auctions will continue through the Nov. 20 conclusion of the UTC3 campaign.
UTBay sponsors have donated items from the Longaberger and Avon collections, as well as premiere golfing packages. Upcoming items include gift baskets and more sporting items. Donations are needed to keep the UTBay site fun and fresh. E-mail susan.young@utoledo.edu if you’re interested in donating goods or services.
The University’s goal is to garner $250,000 or more in pledges by the campaign’s end. Pledges may be made via e-mail or pledge cards, which are available throughout Health Science and Main campuses. Credit cards, cash, checks and payroll deductions will be accepted.
Online resources for the UTC3 campaign are available at http://www.utoledo.edu/utcommcenter/charitable/index.html. Instructions for online or paper pledging are available, and information for additional fundraising opportunities is listed, as well.
