The Toledo women’s soccer team will travel to Madison to meet the Wisconsin Badgers in the first round of the NCAA Championship Friday, Nov. 10.

Kickoff from the McClimon Soccer Complex is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The UT soccer team reacted while watching the NCAA Selection Show in the Savage Arena Joe Grogran Room. They were excited to learn they will play Wisconsin Friday, Nov. 10.

The Rockets return to the NCAA Championship for the fifth time in program history and the first time since 2011.

“It’s pretty cool to hear your name called on the selection show,” said Toledo Head Coach TJ Buchholz. “When you come into a program with all the history and tradition, you want to bring that excitement back. To see that fulfillment on the players’ faces is amazing.”

The Rockets put together a rigorous nonconference schedule to go along with a tough Mid-American Conference slate to prepare them for the likes of Big Ten competition in the national tournament.

“I think we do a good job playing up to other teams levels,” said senior defender Chiara Paradiso. “I’m really excited to see what this team can do against a great team like Wisconsin.”

Toledo, which was picked to finish sixth in the MAC West Division, proved it belonged atop the MAC with a conference semifinal win over MAC West champion Ball State and a title victory over archrival Bowling Green.

“The preseason poll motivated us,” said senior forward Sophie Pohl. “We wanted to prove everyone wrong and finish first. We have done that and it is exciting to get to this point in the season.”

If the Rockets are able to beat the Badgers and claim their first ever NCAA Championship victory, they would play the winner of Alabama State and No. 3 South Carolina in the Round of 32.
