Dr. Daniel Watermeier, associate dean for the arts in the College of Arts and Sciences and professor of theatre, has been invested into one of the nation’s most prestigious organizations of theater educators and professionals.
During a ceremony at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., April 20, Watermeier became one of the newest Fellows of the American Theatre, an honor conferred by a group of his peers.
Among the achievements cited are his five books, including Between Actor and Critic and Edwin Booth’s Performances, and his direction of numerous plays.
Previously invested fellows include playwright Edward Albee, distinguished theatre historian Oscar G. Brocket, noted scenic designer Ming Cho Lee, and Alan Woods, professor of theatre and curator of the Lawrence and Lee Theatre Research Institute at Ohio State University.
“It’s a real honor to be a member of this group,” Watermeier said. “It is certainly good company to be in.”
