The UT department of theatre and film will hold open auditions for three upcoming productions Sunday and Monday, Dec. 7 and 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Center for Performing Arts.
Productions being cast are “Polaroid Stories” by Naomi Iizuka, directed by Jennifer Rockwood, UT lecturer in the theatre and film department; “Little Eyolf” by Henrik Ibsen, directed by Stephen Berwind, UT assistant professor of theatre; and “Fuddy Meers” by David Lindsay-Abaire, directed by Kirby Wahl, UT assistant professor of theatre.
“Polaroid Stories,” to be performed Feb. 20-29, transforms Greek mythology into a world of desperate hustlers, strung-out runaways and lost souls, according to Rockwood. The production will include rap, hip-hop and contemporary dance. “Musicians, dancers and rappers are encouraged to audition,” Rockwood said.
Performance dates for “Little Eyolf” are March 23-28. Berwind said the play focuses on the effects of tragedy on a troubled marriage. Acting roles are available for two men and three women; a boy age 8 to 12 also is needed.
“Fuddy Meers” is a contemporary comedy centered on a woman with amnesia, according to Wahl. A number of character roles are available in this dizzying farce for actors from age 17 (male) to 65 (female). Performance dates for this production will be April 16-25.
For more information on audition requirements and to schedule an appointment, call the department of theatre and film at 419.530.2202.
