Author to discuss book on James Dean
    By Staff
    Jan 30, 2008

Author Claudia Springer will talk about her latest book, James Dean Transfigured, The Many Faces of Rebel Iconography, Friday, Feb. 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the Center for Performing Arts Lab Theatre on Main Campus.

The discussion, “Rebel, Rebel: James Dean in a Globalized World,” will focus on how Dean’s rebel icon has impacted society and continues to re-emerge in new and different ways both in this country and around the world.

In addition, two films related to the topic will be shown Friday, Feb. 1. The two films are “Rebel Without a Cause,” Dean’s hallmark picture, and “La Haine,” a 1995 film from French director Mathieu Kassovitz, set in the dead-end world of a modern day French ghetto.

Springer’s talk and the film screenings are presented by the departments of English and Theatre and Film.
