Frédéric Chopin once said, "There is only one thing more beautiful than one guitar... and that is two guitars..." His words will be exemplified on Monday, Nov. 8, when the UT Classical Guitar Ensemble will take the stage at the Center for Performing Arts Recital Hall at 8 p.m.
“An Evening of Classical Guitar” will feature UT students David Hale, freshman in University College; Petr Kharchenko, freshman in the College of Arts and Sciences; Nick Skaggs, senior in the College of Arts and Sciences; and Russel DeCorte, graduate student in the College of Arts and Sciences. They will play several pieces, including piano arrangements for classical guitar by Shumann and Rachmaninoff, and a Bach chorale arranged for four guitars. Hale and DeCorte also will perform solo pieces at the concert.
“The purpose of this event is for classical guitar students to gain performance experience and to share some great music that they’ve been working on this semester with their friends, family and the public,” said Ed Levy, lecturer of music and director of the concert.
