The UT CommUniversity Band will perform in concert Sunday, Oct. 28, at 8 p.m. in Doermann Theater on Main Campus.
This will be the first performance of the 2007-08 season. The program is titled “Made in America” and will include Robert Russell Bennett’s “Suite of Old American Dances,” William Schuman’s “Chester,” and other works by Ives, Zdechlick and Sousa.
The concert is free and open to the public.
“Thousands of people have performed in their school bands and orchestras before moving on to their careers. Many long for the opportunity to perform again. The UT CommUniversity Band was started last fall to meet that need in the local community,” said Dr. Jason Stumbo, UT director of bands.
The band is composed of local music directors and their students, UT students and employees, and a variety of people from the area, according to Stumbo.
The UT CommUniversity Band is open to the public without audition. Rehearsals take place Sundays from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Center for Performing Arts Room 1023 on Main Campus.
