Concert set for Faculty Appreciation Day Feb. 16 |

A night of music by the Toledo Symphony Orchestra is on tap to celebrate Faculty Appreciation Day on Wednesday, Feb. 16.
A reception will take place from 7 to 7:45 p.m. outside Doermann Theater, and the concert will begin at 8 p.m. in the theater.
Under the direction of Chelsea Tipton II, the Toledo Symphony will perform Ellington’s “Harlem,” Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” and Bernstein’s symphonic dances from “West Side Story.” Dr. Michael Boyd, UT professor of music, will perform as piano soloist during the concert.
“This event is a way to thank our faculty for all that they do,” said UT President Dan Johnson. “It is a fitting tribute for their dedication and hard work.”
This is the third year for the concert, which is underwritten by private parties, according to Jeanne Coates, special events coordinator in the Office of the President.
All faculty and staff are invited to attend. Invitations have been mailed to members of the UT board of trustees and board members of the UT Foundation, the Alumni Association and the Toledo Symphony.
