“The Work of Edith Franklin, A Life With, of, About, Around, in Clay,” a retrospective of the potter’s work, will be on display in the Center for the Visual Arts Gallery on the Toledo Museum of Art Campus through Sunday, Aug. 17.
The work featured in the exhibit will represent Franklin’s more than 60 years working with clay. There also will be new pieces.
Franklin is a well-known artist and pottery expert in the Toledo area. She is a founding and active member of the Toledo Potters’ Guild. She has received a number of awards from local organizations, including the Arts Commission of Greater Toledo, the Crosby Gardens Art Fair, the Athena Arts Society and the Toledo Federation of Arts Societies. She has been nominated twice for the Governor’s Award.
Visitors can meet Franklin at an artist’s reception Friday, July 18, from 6 to 9 p.m. She will give a walking tour of the exhibit from 7 to 8 p.m.
The free, public exhibit can be seen Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
