Greek pianist Lambis Vassiliadis will perform in concert Sunday, Feb. 17, at 3 p.m. in UT's Center for Performing Arts Recital Hall on Main Campus.
His visit is part of the Department of Music’s Dorothy MacKenzie Price Piano Series.
Vassiliadis’ program will consist of works by Beethoven, Beethoven-Liszt and Bach-Brahms.
On Saturday, Feb. 16, he will provide instruction and guidance to UT music majors in a master class.
One of the most distinguished Greek pianists of the younger generation, Vassiliadis represents a style of explosive pianism and artistic sensibility. He holds five academic titles from universities and music academies around the world.
Vassiliadis won 11 awards in international and national piano competitions and has attracted the attention of the international press as a recording artist. His skill has been praised in music publications worldwide, with accolades appearing in BBC Music Magazine, Fanfare, The Grammophone, The Listener and The American Record Guide, among others. He has appeared in many countries in solo concerts and with orchestras.
The Dorothy MacKenzie Price Piano Series has brought many musicians to the University to provide master classes and recitals. Still to come in the series this year is Frances Renzi, whose master class and recital will be held April 12 and 13, respectively.
