The University of Toledo’ Peer Networking Association will host an alcohol awareness workshop in collaboration with the UT department of student development on Wednesday, Nov. 30, from 4 to 6 p.m. in Student Union Room 3018.
Matthew Lambdin, UT interim alcohol and other drug coordinator, will discuss how alcohol plays a role in sexual assault and how students who are of legal age can drink responsibly. He also will talk about how alcohol can contribute to car accidents.
After his lecture, attendees will be allowed to participate in the fatal vision goggle demonstration, which will give them the chance to see what it is like to take a sobriety test under the influence of alcohol.
According to Latrice Waddell, president of the Peer Networking Association and peer adviser coordinator of the department of student development, “It is very important that those who choose to drink should know how to do so responsibly and safely. Regardless of age or whether you drink or not, it is important to be aware of how alcohol affects us. Hopefully by having this workshop, we will learn how to minimize the risk of drinking.”
For more information on the free, public event, contact Waddell at 419.530.6266 or at latrice.waddell@utoledo.edu.
