Take time to help others: Stop by the All-American Blood Drive, which will take place in The University of Toledo’s Rocket Hall on Friday, June 27, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, June 28, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Local blood inventories are low, according to Nikki Rigg, donor services representative with the American Red Cross Western Lake Erie Region. She said the region must collect 290 units of blood per day to provide an adequate supply to its 22 area hospitals.
It takes about one hour to donate blood. Donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds, and be in general good health and feeling well the day of the donation. In addition, persons must not have given blood within 56 days prior to the donation.
The drive is open to the public, and walk-ins are welcome. To make an appointment, call 1.800.448.3543.
All donors will receive a T-shirt and a slice of apple pie.
“We were happy to provide the space for this drive; Rocket Hall is convenient and parking is ample,” said Deb Driscoll, UT senior coordinator for community relations.
For more information, call Driscoll at 419.530.5317.
