Acclaimed director and actor Spike Lee will be on campus Tonight, March 27, at 7:30 p.m. in Doermann Theatre to talk about his experiences with filmmaking and acting. Lee’s appearance includes a question and answer session with the audience.
Over the last two decades, Lee has established himself as one of Hollywood’s most influential and controversial filmmakers. He has directed and produced over 20 movies and documentaries based on racism, sexism and real-life. Over the last two decades, his movies have run the gamut and stirred debate about topics such as interracial relationships (Jungle Fever); to father and son ties (He Got Game); to a satire examining network television’s prejudices and pitfalls (Bamboozled). He has also dealt with figures and stories in history, such as Malcolm X and the HBO documentary 4 Little Girls.
In addition to his work in films, Lee has produced and directed numerous music videos for artists like Miles Davis, Chaka Khan, Public Enemy and Michael Jackson, as well as commercials for Nike, Levi, AT&T and ESPN.
Lee has also proven himself as an actor through his role in Malcolm X, Jungle Fever, Mo’ Better Blues and Do the Right Thing.
Tickets for the event are $10, and they are available at the University’s Rocket Copy in Student Union Room 2525. University students receive one free ticket with valid I.D. Tickets will not be sold at the door.
