UT Anti-War, a student organization, will host an Anti-War Protest and March Wednesday, Nov. 2, at noon on Centennial Mall.
At 12:30 p.m., the event will feature three speakers: Grant Degnan, UT junior, sharing poems he has written about the war in Iraq; Dr. Abid Al-Marayati, UT professor emeritus of political science, speaking about how Iraq was before the war and how the country is now; and community member George Windau, commenting on how the war has affected the area.
“This is more of a peace rally than anything else,” said Alaa Abou-Arab, UT senior and president of UT Anti-War. “Peace around the world is our ultimate goal; this is not a Bush bash.”
The march is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Participants will walk from Centennial Mall toward the West Parking Ramp, to Campus Road, then back to Centennial Mall.
“We hope to educate people about the lies, false hope and false media of the war in Iraq,” Abou-Arab said. “This will be a very educational event.”
For more information on the public event, contact Abou-Arab 419.340.7319.
