An Arizona State University professor currently using a National Science Foundation grant to enhance teacher preparation will bring her expertise to The University of Toledo for a lecture Thursday, March 27, at 10 a.m. in Student Union Room 2592.
Dr. Susan Wyckoff will present a workshop, “Transforming Undergraduate Science Courses Into More Effective Learning Environments,” sponsored by the Center for Teaching and Learning .
A professor of physics and astronomy, Wyckoff has directed the International Halley Watch, a NASA project to coordinate observations of Halley’s comet, as well as the Arizona Collaborative for Excellence in Preparation of Teachers, a project designed to improve undergraduate teaching of science and math in Arizona state universities. Currently she is developing the Electronic Collaborative for Excellence in the Preparation of Teachers.
“Dr. Wyckoff has an international reputation as both an outstanding scientist and teacher,” remarked Dr. Bernard Bopp, director of the Center for Teaching and Learning. “Her visit is particularly timely given our draft strategic plan and heightened concern for the undergraduate learning experience.”
