Camilla Taylor, staff attorney for Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund, will give a talk, "Seeking Respect for Relationships: The Struggle for Marriage Equality and the Impact of Anti-Gay Constitutional Amendments,” Tuesday, Sept. 12, at noon in the Law Center Auditorium.
Lambda Legal is the oldest and largest legal organization dedicated to advancing the civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender people and those with HIV. Taylor's litigation docket includes a diverse array of legal matters that span family law, employment discrimination, criminal law, and advocacy on behalf of a transgender client denied a change in gender designation on her birth certificate.
Prior to joining Lambda Legal, Taylor was a staff attorney with the Criminal Appeals Bureau of the Legal Aid Society of New York City. She represented indigent defendants on appeal before the New York Appellate Divisions, First and Second Departments, and the New York Court of Appeals.
Taylor received a law degree from Columbia Law School and a bachelor of arts degree from Yale College, and she is an adjunct professor at Northwestern University School of Law.
The free, public event is co-sponsored by the UT College of Law Legal Clinic.
