The University of Toledo will host its first Graduate Research Symposium Wednesday and Thursday, May 14-15, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Ingman Room and South Lounge of the Student Union on Main Campus with faculty and graduate students discussing the importance of graduate student research.
“It’s a movement created by the students to promote interaction between themselves and the faculty,” said Dr. Constantine Theodosiou, interim dean of graduate studies.
The symposium is meant to create an interaction between graduate students and promote awareness of scholarships available for the students, according to Theodosiou and the event’s organizer, Anastasia Mirzoyants, UT doctoral student in the Judith Herb College of Education.
The event will include about 50 speakers from The University of Toledo, Bowling Green State University and members of the Toledo business community presenting on topics such as alternative energy sources, cancer research and the First Amendment.
The event is planned to be the first in a series of annual meetings organized by the Graduate Students Association and the School of Graduate Studies.
For more information on the event, call or e-mail the Graduate Students Association at 419.530.2373 or graduatestudentassoc@utoledo.edu.
