Henry Ford is quoted as saying “Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.”
On Friday, Nov. 30, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Dana Conference Center on The University of Toledo Health Science Campus, economic development groups in the Toledo-Lucas County area will gather for the first time in several years to share information and economic development goals, and see how they might better work together.
Toledo-Lucas County Meta-Plan Workshop participants will include the Regional Growth Partnership, Port Authority, TMACOG, Lucas County Commissioners/Lucas County Improvement Corp., Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce, Toledo Mayor’s Office, and the UT Science and Technology Corridor.
From 8:15 to 8:45 a.m., there will be a presentation on “clusters.” A cluster strategy is when businesses in a particular industry collaborate with academia and other community partners within their geographic area to develop and implement a strategy to become more globally competitive.
The workshop will begin with each participating organization giving a 15-minute presentation about its goals and strategic plans followed by a discussion about aligning Toledo-Lucas County’s top three to four strategic goals, identifying possible gaps in the goals and developing a plan for working with southeast Michigan.
After lunch, Ohio Lt. Gov. Lee Fisher will deliver the workshop’s keynote address.
RSVP by Wednesday, Nov. 21, to SciTechCorridor@utoledo.edu or by calling 419.383.6900.
