Women and Philanthropy to unveil gift in Carlson Library |

Women and Philanthropy will celebrate its first grant award by revealing a gift Thursday, May 29, at 5:30 p.m. in UT’s Canaday Center for Special Collections in Carlson Library on Main Campus.

UT’s Women and Philanthropy, a group of women donors to the University, is committed to establishing new relationships and building thoughtful, effective and diverse women philanthropists in the community. The group also promotes UT through investments and grants to University initiatives.
The gift is a glass sculpture by local artist Tom McGlauchlin. The sculpture will be placed in the concourse outside Carlson Library.
In addition to the gift announcement, Jeanne Drewes, chief of binding and collections care from the Library of Congress, will speak on methods to preserve family treasures from wedding dresses to letters. Drewes also will share behind-the-scenes stories of the Library of Congress and talk about its history.
The event is open to the public; however, reservations are required.
