Thanks to the generous support of numerous businesses and the Toledo area community, The University of Toledo College of Business Administration’s May 6 “Power of Focus” seminar, featuring Mark Victor Hansen, was a success that students and faculty will benefit from for years to come.
The event drew more than 800 participants, raising more than $80,000 for the Mark Victor Hansen Entrepreneurial Excellence Fund, justly named after the “Chicken Soup for the Soul” co-creator. The scholarship will be made available to students pursuing a degree in the College of Business Administration as well as faculty members pursuing professional development.
Hansen came to Toledo to serve as keynote speaker during The University of Toledo’s May 11 commencement ceremonies. By waiving his $35,000 speaking fee for his appearances, this highly sought-after speaker enabled The University of Toledo to return the funds earmarked for a commencement speaker to the students.
“We are extremely grateful to all those who helped make this event a success,” said Dr. Sonny Ariss, interim dean of the College of Business Administration.
The University of Toledo College of Business Administration would like to express its appreciation to the “Power of Focus” events sponsors. They are: · Ed Schmidt Pontiac; · Brooks Insurance Agency; · The Blade; · WTOL, the NewsChannel; · The UT Center for Family Business; · The University of Toledo Office of the Provost; · Hart Associates; · Lauerer Markin Group; · Fifth Third Bank; · Metzgers Printing; · The Andersons; · GAC Chemical Corp.; · Sky Bank; · Jeff Traudt, State Farm Insurance; · Audio Visual Integration; · Barry Bagels; · Kinko’s Copies, West Bancroft location; and · 2 Scale.
