The UT chapter of the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) has voted to reject a contract offer. The move comes on the heels of a contract rejection by the Communications Workers of America Local 4530 last week (CWA).
According to Dr. Harvey Wolff, president of the UT-AAUP, faculty voted the mediated proposal down by a three-to-one margin. Wolff said the union is not making final figures public as they may have an impact on negotiations.
The CWA voted down a contract proposal on Jan. 27, 402 to 62.
Jim Sciarini, associate vice president for human resources, said that negotiations with the two unions will continue, with the sides entering a fact-finding phase, should talks bring no resolution.
