In an effort to meet the ongoing emergency needs of people affected by Saturday’s fire, the Greater Toledo Area Chapter of the American Red Cross will provide such necessities as furniture, linens, cooking and eating utensils, and school books, if necessary.
A Red Cross worker is available at the Crossings to meet one-on-one with those affected.
As of Sunday evening, the Red Cross has helped 66 residents with vouchers for clothing and other items. The organization has also provided comfort kits, blankets, work gloves and other supplies. The University of Toledo is providing temporary housing and food for affected residents who are students.
To date, the American Red Cross has spent or committed around $5,500 to provide for the emergency, disaster-caused needs of those affected. The organization estimates total relief efforts will cost between $30,000 and $49,500.
All Red Cross disaster assistance is free, made possible by voluntary donations of time and money from the American people. You can help the victims of this and other disasters in the community by making a financial gift to the Greater Toledo Area Chapter’s Disaster Relief Fund, which enables the Red Cross to provide shelter, food, counseling and other assistance to those in need. Call 419.329.2900 or 888.590.0098. Contributions to the Disaster Relief Fund may be sent to the Greater Toledo Area Chapter of the American Red Cross at P.O. Box 595, Toledo, Ohio 43697-0595.
