As the fall semester draws to a close, some University of Toledo marketing students are better equipped for their future employment, thanks to a donation from Holland, Ohio's Metra Corporation.
A donation of $105,000 in export documentation software to the College of Business Administration is now being used in Dr. Anthony Koh's exporting marketing course. Koh believes Ex-Port is helping his students understand the importance of accurate documentation in exporting, and the need for data required to prepare documents such as the Shipper's Export Declaration, Shipper's Letter of Instructions, Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Exporter Certificate, Bank Draft and Transmittal Letter, Certificate of Origin, and Bill of Lading. The software has been installed on a server in the College of Business Administration and can be used by 99 students at a time.
Zuhair Kamal, president of Metra Corporation, says Ex-Port© software is a hi-level, full featured, versatile, customizable application, which is renowned as the first export documentation software developed for Windows 3.0. Ex-Port has been used in an export office environment on a continuous basis for the last 23 years and has been regularly updated to run happily on Windows 95/98/me/2000/xp.
According to Dr. Sonny Ariss, interim dean of the College of Business Administration, "Employers need not incur additional expenses in training, for our students can begin working from day one of employment." He says the integration of this hands-on export documentation software would greatly enhance the employment opportunities of students interested in international business or international marketing.
