The Associate Vice President/Dean of Students Committee has invited four candidates to come to the University for two-day interviews next month.
Each candidate will tour campus and meet with President Dan Johnson, members of the board of trustees, student leaders, the search committee, and Dr. Tyrone Bledsoe, vice president for student affairs, and his student affairs leadership team.
In addition, each will have two open forums — one for students and one for faculty and staff. The candidates and their schedules are:
• Dr. Ronald Speier, a teacher for Pitt County Schools, Greenville, N.C., and dean emeritus of students at East Carolina University, will meet with students on Monday, March 3, from 7:15 to 8:45 p.m. in the Student Recreation Center Maple Room; faculty and staff can meet the candidate on Tuesday, March 4, from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. in Student Union Room 2591.
• Dr. Richard Danals, director of the Gardner Student Center and assistant vice president for student affairs for organizational development at the University of Akron, will meet with students on Thursday, March 6, from 7:15 to 8:45 p.m. in Student Union Room 2579; a forum for faculty and staff will take place on Friday, March 7, from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Student Union Auditorium.
• Dr. Kevin Bailey, associate dean of students at Bowling Green State University, will meet with students on Tuesday, March 18, from 7:15 to 8:45 p.m. in the Student Recreation Center Maple Room; faculty and staff can meet the candidate on Wednesday, March 19, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in Student Union Room 2591.
• Dr. Sharon George, former director of the Office of Student Life at Central Michigan University, will meet with students on Thursday, March 20, from 7:15 to 8:45 p.m. in Student Union Room 2579; an open forum for faculty and staff will be held Friday, March 21, from 1:15 to 2:15 p.m. in Student Union Room 2582.
Following the on-campus visits, the committee will give recommendations to Bledsoe, according to committee chair Dawn Rhodes, associate vice president for planning and analysis.
