The Board of Trustees today unanimously approved a new contract for the 23 members of the UT-AAUP non-tenure track faculty union. The new contract is retroactive to Aug. 1, 2000.
According to Dr. Earl Murry, vice provost for faculty development, the contract calls for a base salary adjustment from $26,500 to $30,000, with an annual salary adjustment of three percent each year of the three-year contract. An additional one-time adjustment of three-quarters of a percent will be added in for the first year.
"We are pleased this matter has been concluded and appreciate the efforts of the administration and the UT-AAUP non-tenure track group," said James Tuschman, board chairman. "We appreciate this being brought to an amicable solution."
Norene Lindsay, the bargaining unit's chief negotiator, said, "Other than compensation, I feel we have a fair and reasonable contract. But when it comes to compensation we are still $5,000 below the national average."
Union membership ratified the agreement last month.
