The board of trustees last week approved a three-year contract for the Police Patrolman’s Association. The association represents 26 patrolmen and sergeants in the University’s police department. The contract, which was ratified by the association Nov. 14, calls for a 3 percent raise for the next three years for patrolmen and an additional 1 percent increase for sergeants. In addition to the raises, the contract also includes the promotion of three patrolmen to sergeants. According to John Dauer, chief of police, the promotions are needed because of the supervision gap that has been caused by scheduling changes. “We felt the contract is fair for both sides, and we were happy to work with the administration to complete the negotiations,” Dauer said.
