Three committees of the board of trustees met today in advance of next week’s regular meeting. All three had a focus on the future, discussing initiatives that may one day prove critical to the success of The University of Toledo. Highlights included:
The Committee on Student Life discussed the division’s priorities for the coming year placing them in the context of the student satisfaction index, results of which were released during the last academic year. In addition, the group discussed progress toward defining the “Desired Student Experience.”
The Committee on Institutional Advancement discussed priorities for the upcoming capital campaign. The group examined what Vern Snyder, vice president for institutional advancement, described as a “wish list.” The priorities, which have begun to receive wide distribution on campus, detail University needs that could be met with campaign goals of $60 million, $75 million and $100 million.
The Committee on Academic Affairs moved forward a proposal to establish a Center for Parents. Jerome Sullivan, dean of the College of Health and Human Services, provided the group with an overview of the center, which is intended to integrate the University’s research initiatives into community service programs with an emphasis on parenting.
The board’s strategic issues and planning, trusteeship, finance and audit committees will meet on Oct. 21, with the full board meeting on Oct. 22.
