The University of Toledo board of trustees voted 5-2 to accept a negotiated health-care contract Monday.
Coming on the heels of adoption by the University’s three bargaining units, the decision clears the way for February implementation of the plan that will be in effect through 2007.
The agreement calls for several changes in the University's health-care package, including:
• Working spouse health coverage premiums based on income;
• Same and opposite sex domestic partner benefits for a monthly premium; and
• A revised prescription drug program that features on-campus dispensing at preferred co-payment rates and 90-day maintenance drug fills.
The Communications Workers of America Local 4319 voted Jan. 26 to accept the health-care contract, which also was approved by the UT chapter of the American Association of University Professors.
The contract was approved by a 320-38 vote by CWA members; 89 percent of AAUP members accepted the agreement.
On Jan. 23, the UT Police Patrolman's Association ratified the contract by a 19-6 vote.
