With the first step of the Learning Alliance’s assessment of the College of Arts and Sciences completed in September, participants are gathering today for the first of two round-table discussions.
“We have some very smart, very dedicated people in this group, and I’m looking forward to the conversations Bob Zemsky will be facilitating following September’s individual interviews,” said Dr. Rosemary Haggett, Main Campus provost and executive vice president for academic affairs.
Zemsky, who is leading the Learning Alliance assessment team, indicated that the interviews will form the basis for discussions on where UT’s College of Arts and Sciences is now, where it wants to be and how to get there.
“I think what Bob will do is help give us a common vocabulary so we can build toward solutions,” Haggett said.
“I think there is broad consensus among all in the college that wherever we think the college is now, we share a vision for continuous improvement and a sustainability of the foundation of academic and research excellence that permeates the college now,” she said.
Conversations started at a dinner last night and will last the rest of the day.
Zemsky and his colleagues will be back in December for a second round table that will build on conversations taking place today.
There are 34 round-table participants; a complete list is available here.
