Water main rupture floods Stranahan Hall
    By Matt Lockwood
    May 6, 2008

An 8-inch water main burst underground late Monday evening on The University of Toledo’s Main Campus resulting in the flooding of Stranahan Hall, which houses the College of Business Administration.

The flooding damaged electrical gear in the basement of Stranahan causing a power outage this morning on the north side of campus. Power has been restored to most of the buildings that were affected; however, Stranahan Hall, Gillham Hall and Ritter Planetarium are still without normal power.

Disaster cleanup crews have been on campus since early this morning.

Water to the north side of campus has been turned back on, and the goal is to have all buildings open for business Wednesday, May 7.

An assessment of the damage is ongoing.
