Norma Tomlinson, associate vice president and associate executive director at The University of Toledo Medical Center, has written a letter in honor of National Nurses Week, May 6-12.
According to a Gallup Poll, nurses are at the top of the list as the most trusted professionals. Registered nurses also top the list of the 10 occupations with the largest projected job growth between the years 2002 and 2012. Nursing is a profession that is both an art and a science. Throughout the world nurses promote optimal health and patient safety in settings such as emergency rooms, hospitals, clinics and schools, to name a few.
Nurses at The University of Toledo Medical Center demonstrate our mission to improve the human condition 24 hours a day. These men and women link high touch with high tech representing our value to treat every individual with kindness, dignity and empathy. Our nurses use evidence-based practice and nursing research contributing to the advancement of patient care outcomes.
As the chief nursing officer at The University of Toledo Medical Center, I am proud of the difference our nurses make in the lives of our patients and their families. May 6-12 is National Nurses Week. Please take a moment to remember how a nurse has touched your life or the life of someone you know. Then join me in thanking our nurses and showing them our support.
