Been to a Faculty Club event yet? Well, now’s the time to start going because on Friday, Oct. 17, the Faculty Club will hold its first event this fall featuring a special ensemble of UT Jazz Studies faculty members and friends performing in the Toledo Hilton on Health Science Campus from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
Featuring UT jazz faculty Gunnar Mossblad, director of jazz studies, on sax, Norman Damschroder on bass, Jonathan Ovalle on drums, Jay Weik on guitar and Timothy Whalen on piano, the ensemble will serve up selections for jazz aficionados. The group played behind Jon Hendricks, UT Distinguished Professor of Jazz, last month when he celebrated his birthday at Murphy’s Place.
“Faculty members, administrators and others are invited to relax, enjoy some great jazz, learn about the Faculty Club and meet new friends,” said Brian Hickam, associate professor in University Libraries.
Open to all members and friends of the University community, the event is $8 for members and $10 for non-members. There will be a cash bar as well as complimentary cheese and crackers and a vegetable tray.
For more information on the Faculty Club or the event, contact Hickam at 419.530.4493 or visit http://hsc.utoledo.edu/depts/facultyclub/index.html.
