Dr. Mohamed Samir Hefzy has been appointed associate editor for the Journal of Biomechanical Engineering.
The journal is published by the Bioengineering Division of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. It reports research results involving the application of mechanical engineering knowledge, skills and principles to the conception, design, development, analysis and operation of biomechanical systems, including artificial organs and prostheses, biomechanics, cellular mechanics, physiological systems, and the design and control of biological systems.
Hefzy is a professor of mechanical, industrial and manufacturing engineering and associate dean of graduate studies and research administration in the College of Engineering.
"Editorship of a world-class journal is evidence of the genuine respect that Dr. Hefzy commands from his peers, nationally and internationally,” said Dr. Nagi Naganathan, dean of the College of Engineering. “In turn, this is also recognition of the quality of the scholarship endeavors of our faculty and students."
Hefzy, who joined the UT faculty in 1987, will serve as an associate editor for a three-year term.
