Toledo women’s golf captures second straight title with 11-shot victory

Senior Pinyada Kuvanun captured the third tournament title of her collegiate career Tuesday to lead the Toledo women’s golf team to its second straight title with an 11-stroke victory in the Battle at Boulder Creek in Boulder City, Nev.

The Rockets posted a 13-shot triumph in last year’s event at the par-72, 6,252-yard Boulder Creek Golf Club.

“We started with a bit more energy and purpose today,” Head Coach Jenny Coluccio said. “There was a little bit of struggle for us midway through our round, but we came back and finished strong. Our team didn’t let anything get them down, and sticking to their process paid off in the end.”

Kuvanun finished the event at even-par 216 (70-74-72) and collected a tournament-high 11 birdies over 54 holes. SeniorNatcha Daengpiem placed fourth at five-over par 221 (74-71-76), with senior Pimchanok Kawil coming in fifth place at nine-over par 225 (76-75-74).

Junior Saranlak Tumong tied for 11th place at 11-over par 230 (77-78-75), and junior Thunpijja Sukkasem tied for 21stplace at 20-over par 236 (77-80-79).

Junior Donchanok Toburint played as an individual and tied for 16th place at 16-over par 232 (77-77-78).

Toledo will return to action on Saturday and Sunday, March 16-17, with a trip to Augusta, Ga., for the 3M Invitational.
