University of Toledo student-athletes earned a combined grade point average of 3.270 in spring semester. It is the highest department semester GPA in school history.

It is also the fifth consecutive semester in which UT student-athletes have earned a semester GPA above 3.2, and the 17th straight semester of at least a 3.1 GPA.

“On behalf of our entire athletic department, I would like to offer congratulations to our student-athletes for a record-setting semester in the classroom,” Vice President and Athletic Director Mike O’Brien said. “A department GPA of 3.270 is a fantastic achievement. We are also very proud of the fact that academic excellence has become the norm for us, as this is the fifth consecutive semester in which our student-athletes have had at least a 3.2 GPA. Special mention should also be given to our women’s golf program for recording the highest team GPA in school history.

“I would also like to thank all those who work very hard to support the academic efforts of our student-athletes, from our faculty and Student-Athlete Academic Services staff, to our coaches and parents. Their dedication really helps make a difference.”

Individually, 38 student-athletes earned President’s List honors with a perfect 4.0 GPA, while more than 42 percent (150 of 353) earned a spot on the Dean’s List by garnering at least a 3.50 GPA, and nearly 71 percent (250 of 353) achieved a 3.0 grade point average or better for the 2017 spring semester.

Fourteen of UT’s 16 varsity teams had combined GPAs of at least 3.0. Women’s golf set the pace with a team GPA of 3.780, the highest semester GPA ever recorded for a UT sport. Women’s soccer (3.631), women’s volleyball (3.573), women’s cross country (3.572), men’s golf (3.532), and women’s track and field (3.502) also were above 3.5 as a team this past spring.
